A big thanks to everyone who made this years race a success; the runners, helpers and HBO residents. We look forward to next year!
Welcome to the Hatfield Broad 10k Road Race Website
Hatfield Broad Oak 10k Road Race is held every year on the late May bank holiday, the next one is on Monday 27th May 2013. Now in it's 27th year it attracts nearly 1500 runners. Entries will open in March 2013.
The course is a fairly flat figure of 8 that comes back through the supporters in the village about halfway through. Every entrant gets a timing chip so that they get two times for the race, the gun time and their individual time over the measured 10k.
The event runs on the same day as the village fete. Which adds interest for the whole family and many entrants make it a family day out. Furthermore, after the race, there is a 1 mile fun run which is great for the kids. No need to enter for the fun run - just turn up, and provided you finish before we run out you will get a medal - don't worry we buy loads of medals so normally every finisher gets one.
HBO 10k is also well known for the T-shirt presented to each runner completing the race. So much so that they are becoming something of a collectors item - collect yours by entering here.
The race is run from the Village Hall and the start line is just outside the Village Post Office, with the gun at 11am. Please come early as it can take a while to park and find your way to the start.
This year there will be a professional photographer in attendance, they will be selling photos on the day, so we suggest you put a note in your pocket so that you have cash to pay for them if you like them.
The race is run by the local school PTA with the proceeds going to the school and a number of good causes within the village, for example the Brownies. Our school is very small and suffers a disavantage in the way councils allocate money to school, so we are all very grateful to the runners who support this event and help our children in their education at the same time.
